Noreen Donnell, MTA, MMT, NMT, RP
Clinical Music Therapist and Registered Psychotherapist
Noreen Donnell, MTA, MMT, NMT, RP is a clinical music therapist and registered psychotherapist based in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. Her clinical work includes 30+ years of experience utilizing a client-centered approach for people with communication, physical, and developmental challenges, neurodiverse children, adolescents, and adults, and individuals with mental health needs. She has worked in both the public and private sector, in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, private practice, schools, and mental health facilities, serving clients via both in-person and telehealth.
Noreen received a Bachelor of Music and Psychology, followed by a Bachelor and a Master degree in Music Therapy, all from Wilfrid Laurier University. Her clinical training included work with a diverse range of client populations and settings including children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, children in early intervention populations, and individuals in hospice care. Throughout her education and clinical training, she learned how all forms of musical expression provide a means of connection and belonging.
Noreen received her accreditation from the Canadian Association for Music Therapists in 1991, her certification in Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT) in 2013, and became a member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists in 2016.
She is a clinical supervisor and has supervised music therapy students, interns, and professionals on their individual journeys. Noreen has served on both the provincial and the national boards of the Canadian Association of Music Therapists, in various roles. Noreen has also published numerous articles in the Canadian Journal of Music Therapy and has written and co-produced a children’s music recording entitled “Singalingalong”. Noreen is proficient on the piano, guitar, violin, and percussion.
